I think that some of these diseases need to make a come back just so that these people that choose not to immunize get a shot of reality! We are on the verge of eliminating most of these diseases for a reason…if they were harmless, then we would not have had scientists develop immunizations against them. Countless children have died from these diseases and the only reason we are not contracting these diseases at full force is because it is no longer rampant and gaining strength. It is not only irresponsable, but unconscionable not to immunize our children. My child has autism. I don’t know if the immunization has caused his autism. But I will take the autism over his death any day. I don’t know why he developped autism or if the vaccination even had anything to do with it. I am not a scientist, just a mother who loves her child. I just know that I will do anything I have to in order to protect my child. Maybe these children that have not been innoculated are not contracting the diseases and if they do they get a milder form of it, maybe it has something to do with the fact that everyone around else them have been vaccinated. It’s irresponsable and ignorant what they are suggesting here. It’s sort of like the teenager who thinks “oh, I won’t get pregnant if I have unprotected sex because it’s my first time” or “If I jump up and down after having unprotected sex, I won’t get pregnant”! And then surprise! The kid got knocked up! And then everyone feels sorry for her…it’s stupid and ignorant! So they can sit there, not immunize their children but I am not going to feel sorry if their child dies from a serious disease for which there is an innoculation for and I sure am not going to support their ignorance!

Oh, I agree there. Problem is that you DO need the shots, to keep from, you know, death.

I just can’t wrap my head around the logic that says you don’t vaccinate your children, because you know someone who had a disease after vaccination (which might be much less severe because of it) and you know someone who wasn’t vaccinated and didn’t have the disease.

That’s like saying “I know someone who died in car crash while wearing seatbelts, and someone who survived while not wearing seatbelts. That’s why I never wear a seatbelt!”

The ignorance is almost physically painfull.
