Welcome to the Sceptics’ Book of Pooh-Pooh. We began this blog following the screening of the truly supernatural Australian reality television show “The One, the Search for Australia’s Number One Psychic” featuring our good friend the sceptical judge Richard Saunders.

In response to a logical, rational explanation offered up by Richard, the witch on the panel, Stacey Demarco exclaimed, “That’s number 24 out of the sceptics little pooh-pooh book!” Well we were intrigued, we knew of no such book. And when our search came up blank, we thought bugger it, we’ll write it.

So here it is! A place for us to vent our spleens on anything that smites us really. We will begin by compiling some of the excuses from the other side when their cold reading, or telemetry or remote viewing or the art-of-making-shit-up goes wrong.

Because when it comes to science and reason, there are no excuses, just facts.

Watch the video that prompted this blog, our inspiration appears at 1 minute 30 seconds.

The One, episode 4.

  • I am late watching this show because I am making Youtube vids of them.

I could not believe the hide of the Wilson chick doing the Guy Leech reading. First she says “TV celeb” and then when this is denied she says “I am feeling … that I was wrong about the TV celeb” You were told you were wrong honey. You did not feel it.

Watch me stick the knife in a bit on youtube vid

  • Excellent idea! I can’t wait to see the list. Will it have lots of entries or will number 24 be the sole entry? 🙂

Just one pedantic note, the show was subtitled “The search for Australia’s most gifted psychic”.

  • I’m kind of wondering what the cover of this book would look like… 🙂 Eeek!
